Fira's Room

Fira, one of the first fighters mentioned in the Life of Lewa series of episode 2 "The Arena Match"; has exited for a very long time. Like many of my characters, she was invented sometime around 2008/9 and was originally built for a LEGO building contest (more details about her starter history will be for a later post).

The following images were created as a play scene of Fira's room. Later on it came to me that this is either a room of some home she rarely ever stays at, or a hotel suite nearby, or in the arena lodging areas. I like the idea of the later concept; and the above image is the overall view of her room, which she hasn't yet settled in, or even had the chance to take off her over skirt before an Agori fan wanted some pictures.
The above front and back view panel of Fira in her base outfit is my favorite scene.
Fira is a nomadic character, her clothing and fighting styles based off middle eastern art influence. She wears a gold silk skirt flap (made of leftover satin from another project), and has a beautiful cape of highlighted crimson with gold details (also satin from the same project and from the sari material section). She wears a heavy gold necklace weight around her shoulders, with a large medallion hanging from the front; probably a trophy she received for helping some royal in the water region (note the sea flower shape on it). Her skirt flap jewelry is a strand of plastic beads, and a stray earring for the front. Fira looks way better in her clothes than without them in my opinion, later I'll show her without them.

Her basic history is still unknown, I've never thought about it too much; and at some point I might make a small chart on her character. Here's what I have so far: she's nomadic, likes to live in tents (often out in the desert); is a belly dancer of sorts and also a very skilled fighter, she likes to combine fighting with dancing (her specialty move being called the hypnotic flame spin). She's very wise, and in human years would be about 48. She keeps mostly to herself, but is sociable when in the company of others, and likes playing music or cards. She's always willing to help someone in need, and expects no payment in return. Overall she's gentle, intelligent, and knowledgeable in medicines of the desert. She has a few skills in warding off Rahi and other such animals with special calls and ventriloquism. To some her ways are seen as taboo, such as the fact that she's not afraid to make stew out of marinated thornax, and throw in any kind of meat she can get her hands on; even scarabax and snake qualify on her dinner menu.
More on the scene itself. Can you guess what I used to make her room? In the above image is a closer view of the left side in her room. The room itself is the shelf of a coffee table, which I then draped fabric over to create the illusion of tent like walls. I used a special edition doll box for the Asian window setting next to her bed, and the bed itself is made of creatively placed books with fabric draped over them. The smaller details are Barbie accessories and collected miniatures.
The image above is the right side of Fira's room. The mirror has been in my collection for ages, her table is a miniature coffee table, and the accessories on it are Barbie books and a Bionicle part pen. Her special chair is made of lego pieces; originally it served as a dinosaur saddle (that's a later story). Next to her table is a small dresser (actually a battery box) with a small book and scroll, along with a mini lamp (yes it really lights up, and has mini replacement bulbs).

Finally, the very corner in the right section of the room is a sitting area, complete with a fire place made from an old lantern, a Barbie plant and some pillows, a stand of fondue swords, and a mini Asian vase (and yes, the levitated platform is a book.)
